Dry chap lips can be associated with a lot of medical conditions, but Seasonal Dry Lips are primarily caused by environmental overexposure like wind, dry air, licking and not using a humidifier.
SEAL THOSE LIPS. It’s not expensive to protect your lips. Your best bet is a paraffin base lip balm. Lip balms contain waxes and oils that put a protective seal over the ski. Balms holding in your own moisture, not allowing evaporation or the environment to dry your lips, giving them time to heal. In a pinch you could use Vaseline. Stay away from products that have fragrance, camphor, menthol and salicylic acid as these can increase hydration loss. Beeswax and coconut oil are some natural ways your lips will love you. Dry, flaky and sometimes bleeding lips need immediate care. If they’re flaky you can GENTLY exfoliate your lips with a sugar scrub or washcloth once a week. Just really, try not to pick them. If the damage is more severe (peeling and bleeding) try hydrocortisone on your lips.
