WHY IT ALL STARTED – Giving Forward
In 2012, Barbara started Fresh Start Skincare to provide free tattoo removal and scar treatments for victims of the sex trade industry. Every year thousands of young women are kidnapped and trafficked into forced prostitution. They are regularly and unwillingly branded with tattoos by their traffickers. The tattoo brandings are often money signs, barcodes, and the names or initials of their pimps. These tattoos are daily reminders, which emotionally and psychologically anchor them to their traumatic past. Our mission is to remove these awful brandings and erase the psychological chains of enslavement. Because everyone deserves a fresh start sometime in life.
A portion of our proceeds from each service we provide, is donated towards making these treatments possible. It takes approximately $1500-$2500 per victim to remove a single tattoo.
